The Layer Vase by Philipp Aduatz, developed and designed in collaboration with Austrian manufacturer incremental3d, explores the aesthetic possibilities of 3D concrete printing in a small-scale sculptural object.

Its defining feature is the stratified surface: each visible layer reveals the additive manufacturing process, making the object’s creation directly tangible. This layered texture lends the piece a tactile, textile-like quality, giving unexpected lightness to the otherwise heavy material.

The organic, asymmetrical form highlights the design freedom enabled by digital tools and 3D printing—without the need for molds, with optimized material use, and reduced CO₂ emissions. The Layer Vase embodies the fusion of craftsmanship and technological innovation, demonstrating how concrete can take on new expressive forms within contemporary design.
